The Coalition of Civil Society Organisation is calling on Parliament to make the appointment process for the Special Prosecutor and its Deputy open and competitive.

The Coalition of Civil Society Organisation is calling on Parliament to make the appointment process for the Special Prosecutor and its Deputy open and competitive.

The Coalition proposes that the position be publicly advertised to all Ghanaians home and abroad.

In a statement signed by Executives of the CSO's Coalition, it suggested that Parliament constitute an adhoc interview panel comprising experienced experts who have been scrutinised by stakeholders in the Judicial Service.

The Coalition believes when this is done, it will help cure the challenges of any political bias in the appointment process.

It suggests that the current provision under the appointment process in clause 12 be amended to increase public trust.
