GACC and Partners Hold Follow-Up Training to Strengthen Journalists’ Reporting on Governance and Anti-Corruption

The Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC), in partnership with the Africa Centre for Energy Policy (ACEP) and Transparency International–Ghana (TI-Ghana), with support from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), organised a follow-up media capacity-building workshop on 18th February 2026 to strengthen journalists’ reporting on governance and anti-corruption reforms.

The one-day workshop brought together journalists who previously participated in the 2024 media training. The session was designed to build on the earlier engagement and further strengthen participants’ understanding of governance and accountability issues.

Opening the session, representatives of the organising partners highlighted the importance of strengthening media capacity to promote transparency and accountability. Delivering remarks, Mr. Hooman Nouruzi, Head of Political and Governance at the British High Commission (FCDO), described the training as timely and important, noting that a well-informed public is essential for accountability. He emphasised that equipping journalists with the right knowledge helps promote transparency, counter misinformation, and strengthen democratic governance.

The technical sessions were facilitated by Dr. John Osae-Kwapong, who led discussions focused on strengthening investigative approaches and improving accuracy and consistency in reporting on governance reforms.

Participants engaged in interactive discussions and practical reflections on challenges encountered in reporting on anti-corruption issues. The workshop also provided an opportunity to assess progress made since the initial training and identify areas for further improvement.

The workshop forms part of the project titled “An Anti-Corruption Initiative for Enhancing Governance and Accountability.”
