OSP Strengthens GACC Staff Capacity on the OSP Law

The Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC), with support from the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), has organized a Training of Trainers (ToT) session for its project team as part of the implementation of the project “Strengthening the Rule of Law and the Fight Against Corruption.”

The training, held on Friday, 17th October 2025, was facilitated by officials from the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), Dr. Isidore Kwadwo Tufuor, Esq., the Director of Prosecutions  and Mr. Samuel Appiah Darko, the Director of Strategy, Research and Communication. The session aimed to deepen the project team’s understanding of the OSP Law (Act 959), its mandate, and operational framework to enable the GACC team to effectively engage citizens and stakeholders during upcoming field activities.

Through detailed presentations, the facilitators explained the OSP’s operational independence and its mandate to prevent, investigate, and prosecute corruption and corruption-related offences involving public officers and politically exposed persons. They also highlighted the Office’s role in research, strategy, and public education, emphasizing the importance of inter-agency collaboration in the national anti-corruption effort.

The training formed part of GACC’s preparations for the implementation of the project activities, including multi-stakeholder forums on the OSP and other corruption-related topics, as well as public campaigns and media engagements aimed at raising public awareness of the OSP Law and its workings.

The project is supported by the Participation, Accountability, and Integrity for a Resilient Democracy (PAIReD) programme, commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), co-financed by the European Union (EU) and the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), and implemented by GIZ in partnership with the Ministry of Finance in Ghana.
